Course Module Descriptions

Session A-1: Intro to AI and Workplace Productivity

  • Understand the basics of AI, such as what it is, how it works, and its different types
  • Discuss the history of AI and its current state of development
  • Identify the benefits and challenges of AI and Language Learning Models (LLMs)
  • Be able to set up and use LLMs.  Understand the strengths and weaknesses of different LLMs
  • Utilizing AI for meetings, drafting agendas, drafting policies and procedures, tracking notices and reminders, optimizing schedules, conducting competitor research, and finally, uploading multiple elements of a project and prompting a synthesized strategy across departments.

Session A-2: AI Language Applications

  • Learn about different Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks, such as text classification, sentiment analysis, and question answering.  
  • Be able to evaluate the effectiveness of AI language applications. 
  • Be able to use AI language applications to solve real-world problems.  
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of an AI language application by comparing its output to human-generated output.  
  • Use an AI language application to solve a real-world problem, such as generating summaries of text documents or translating text from one language to another.

Session B: Grant Writing

The world of grant writing has witnessed a transformative shift with the integration of Large Language Models (LLMs). Through the utilization of LLMs, even individuals without prior grant writing experience can acquire the tools and knowledge to become effective grant application writers, leveling the playing field and expanding opportunities for funding across diverse sectors.

  • Grant Writing Fundamentals: 
    • Understand the basics of grant writing to effectively enhance your skills with AI
  • Data-Driven Approach: 
    • Learn to gather and present data effectively in grant proposals, complementing AI-powered content generation
  • Learn to seamlessly integrate AI-generated content into your grant proposals, crafting persuasive applications aligned with funding organizations’ requirements.

Session C-1: Communication and Marketing

Communication and marketing can utilize AI art generation as a tool. AI art generation offers innovative solutions for visual content creation. This technology streamlines design processes, enabling individuals to produce eye-catching graphics, illustrations, and marketing materials more efficiently.

Participants will build a strong foundation in AI art basics:

  • Introduction and AI Art Basics: 
    • Define AI-generated art and explore AI art models.
  • Basic prompting etiquette
    • Understand the role of prompts and craft effective ones.
  • Real-World Applications
    • Explore practical uses of AI art in various fields 

Session C-2: Communication and Marketing

Once the foundation is built we will continue on with:

  • Exploring advanced prompting techniques:
    • Creating more detailed prompts using keywords
  • Advanced AI Integration: 
    • Dive into AI language models and advanced prompting
  • Hands-On Art Creation: 
    • Create AI-generated art using language prompts and engage in

The modules will culminate with hands-on art creation experiences using the basic prompting, advanced prompting and AI language prompts, where participants engage in discussions with fellow participants to share their creative journey.

Session D: Computer Programming

Explore basic computer programming skills with the assistance of AI

An online Python code interpreter will be used to run short programs made by students and suggested by AI

Basic programming skills covered will include:

  • For loops
  • If statements
  • Variables
  • Functions
  • Console input and output

At the end students will have a basic understanding of the Python programming language and an understanding of how AI can help create programs.

Session E: Healthcare

Understand the fundamental role of AI in the healthcare sector. Explore how AI is reshaping patient care, medical research, and healthcare operations.

  • Discover how machine learning algorithms and medical imaging techniques are enhancing disease detection and diagnosis, leading to earlier interventions and improved patient outcomes.
  • Learn how AI-driven genomics and patient data analysis enable tailored treatment plans and therapies that are uniquely suited to individual patients.
  • Examine the ethical considerations in AI-driven healthcare. 
    • Discuss issues related to patient privacy, data security, and the responsible use of AI in medical decision-making.

Session F: Education

  • Discover how AI-powered platforms use data analysis to tailor learning experiences, meeting individual strengths and weaknesses.
  • Learn how AI algorithms adjust assessment difficulty based on skill level, ensuring a tailored learning path.
  • Learn how AI promotes inclusivity by making educational content accessible through speech recognition and text-to-speech technologies.
  • Learn how AI-driven virtual tutors offer timely assistance outside regular class hours, enhancing learning support.
  • Discover how AI-driven AR and VR create immersive educational experiences, allowing students to interact with historical events, scientific phenomena, and more.
  • See how AI suggests educational pathways based on emerging job trends and individual interests, helping to make informed career choices and upskilling.

Session G: AI Ethics, Policies, and Risks

  • Explore the ethical considerations of AI, such as bias, privacy, and job displacement. 
  • Learn about emerging AI policies and regulations at regional and global levels, and their implications for AI development and deployment.
  • Identify the risks of AI and explore the importance of fostering an ethical AI culture within organizations and promoting responsible AI adoption.

Session H: Philanthropy

  • Explore how AI analyzes vast datasets to provide donors with insights on where their support can create the most positive change.
  • Learn how AI enables real-time monitoring of philanthropic projects, ensuring that funds are used efficiently and transparently.
    • Understand how AI predicts emerging societal needs, allowing philanthropists to proactively address pressing issues.
    • Learn about AI initiatives and innovations aimed at solving social and environmental challenges.
  • Discover how AI-powered crowdsourcing platforms enable collective efforts to drive positive change.

Session I-1: Restaurant Technology (AI, Robotics, Automations)

  • Provide restaurants with a comprehensive overview of the restaurant AI and robotics landscape, highlighting the benefits, applications, and real-world examples of successful implementations along with introductory training with AI automations for order taking and Kiosk. 
  • Demystifying AI and Robotics in Restaurants
  • Unveiling the Benefits of AI and Robotics
  • Case Studies in AI and Robotics Success
  • Selecting the Right AI and Robotics Solutions for Your Restaurant
  • How to set up an AI automated order taker to free up labor and eliminate a phone.  

Session I-2: Restaurant Technology (Back office software)

  • Understand basic programing for Toast POS systems, Toast online ordering, Toast kiosk 
    • Making menus 
    • Discounts 
    • Online setup and virtual order taking
  • Learn how to use Margin Edge inventory software to set up restaurants back of house, budgets, AP & AR. 
  • Learn how to forecast and write schedules using 7shifts software
    • Scheduling based on labor reports 
    • Task management based on hours clocked in

Course Completion & Certification

Capstone Project Development Session: 

  • Student led Capstone to demonstrate AI skills 
  • Projects to demonstrate skills can include:
    • Language Communication – AI can increase personal productivity dramatically.  Examples include:
      • AI can summarize complex documents & articles
      • AI can write books, screenplays, poems, grant applications
      • AI can create marketing/social media outreach
      • AI can be used to improve customer service with 24/7 support using bots

Demonstration of Basic AI Skills:

  • BOT Creation
    • AI Bots can be created on basic platforms
    • AI can create a simulation of a human’s text, voice and visuals
    • AI can be trained to take on human emotional personas
  • Image Creation
      • Infinite universe of images scrubbed from the web
      • Combines with language understanding of principles of art history and the bibliography of known works
  • Prompting and Plug-ins
    • Learn the importance of using clear and concise prompts when working with AI tools.
    • Discover the different types of add-ons that are available for AI tools.
    • Understand how to find and use open source AI tools.
    • Understand how to contribute to open source AI projects.
    • Discuss the ethical considerations of using AI tools.
Computer Programming

Final Session: Capstone Project Demonstration:

  • Students to present their AI Capstone projects for instructors and other students 
  • Instructor to qualify interstanding of AI technologies based on Capstone outcomes
  • Students to benefit from the diversity in methodology and abilities demonstrated by other student capstones
