How do you play 501 Darts?

The dart game 501, also known as “501 Darts,” is one of the most popular and traditional games played in the world of darts. It is a classic game that requires players to start with a score of 501 points and work their way down to zero.

The objective of 501 is to reach exactly zero points using the fewest number of darts possible. Players take turns throwing three darts each and subtract the score they achieve from their current total. The scores of each dart thrown are added up, and the remaining score is deducted accordingly.

To start the game, each player begins with 501 points. They take turns throwing three darts and subtract the score they hit from their total. The scoring areas on the dartboard are divided into different sections, including single, double, and triple segments. Hitting the outer thin ring of a number doubles the score, while hitting the inner thin ring triples the score. The center of the dartboard is called the bullseye, with the inner bullseye scoring the highest points.

The game continues until one player reaches exactly zero points by subtracting their score with strategic throws. However, the game must end with a double, meaning the player must hit a double segment to reach zero. If a player overshoots and ends up with a negative score, their turn is nullified, and they return to their previous score.

The exciting aspect of 501 is that the score can change quickly, requiring players to strategize their throws to reach zero as efficiently as possible. It tests both accuracy and mental math skills, making it a challenging and entertaining game for dart enthusiasts of all levels.

How do you play Cricket?

Cricket is a popular dart game that involves strategic scoring and requires players to “close” certain numbers on the dartboard. The objective of cricket is to score points by hitting specific numbers and closing them before your opponent does.

In cricket, the game is typically played with two teams or players. The numbers used in cricket are 15 through 20, as well as the bullseye. To start the game, each player/team takes turns throwing three darts to score on the board. The numbers 15 through 20 and the bullseye are considered “open” or “not closed” at the beginning.

The scoring in cricket works as follows:

  1. Hitting a number: When a player throws a dart and hits a number, they score that number of points. For example, hitting a single 20 scores 20 points.
  2. Closing a number: To close a number, a player needs to hit it three times. These hits can be made in any combination of singles, doubles, or triples. Once a player closes a number, they “own” that number, and their opponent can no longer score on it.
  3. Scoring on closed numbers: Once a player closes a number, they will score points on that number for every subsequent hit, while their opponent cannot score on it. For instance, if a player owns the number 20 and hits a triple 20, they score 60 points.
  4. Bullseye scoring: The bullseye, consisting of the inner bullseye (worth 50 points) and the outer bullseye (worth 25 points), can also be closed in cricket. The same rules for closing and scoring on numbers apply to the bullseye.

The game of cricket continues until all the numbers have been closed by either player/team. The winner is determined by the player/team with the higher score at the end of the game. Typically, the game is played over several rounds or legs, and the total score across all legs determines the overall winner.
